Anthropic has announced the launch of Claude Duet, an AI agent designed for professionals and small business owners. The tool is currently available as a research preview and serves as a competitor to Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s Dots.
The agent is available as a standalone application on iOS and Android, as well as through the Claude web interface. It is built using the Claude Opus 5.5 model.
Capabilities and features
According to Anthropic, Claude Duet provides a daily morning brief summarizing important items across a user’s connected applications. Throughout the day, it monitors these apps and sends notifications only when specific items require user attention.
Users can assign the agent various tasks, ranging from administrative duties like scheduling meetings to complex projects. These include building dashboards with multiple tools, generating financial or sales forecasts, prototyping, and constructing web applications.
The agent utilizes memory, skills, and connected applications from Claude, and it features a virtual machine equipped with a browser to complete work. For significant actions, such as sending payments or deleting files, Claude Duet requires user approval.
Safety and limitations
Because the agent handles sensitive information, Anthropic has implemented a new dedicated classifier and safety system prompt. These are designed to reject requests to share high-tier sensitive information, such as credit card numbers.
Anthropic noted that Claude Duet is an early version and may misread threads or miscalibrate the urgency of tasks. The company also stated that the agent is not currently as effective at personal tasks like booking tickets.
To access the research preview, users must join a waitlist. Participation is restricted to Pro or Max subscribers located in the United States.
